"Kontanternas värde. Fattigdom och utanförskap i Sveriges digitala ekonomi"
The second issue is written in Swedish and can be translated to the English title: “The value of cash. Poverty and exclusion in Sweden’s digital economy”.
The profile area researchers Lena Halldenius and Moa Petersén have intvestigated how Sweden’s digitalized economy affects people who, for various reasons and to varying degrees, depend on cash to manage their payments. Focusing on Sweden – which has a highly digitalized economy – their study aimed to explore and learn from the experiences of people dependent on cash.
The focus of this study has been on people in economic and social vulnerability, as international research has identified poverty as the main reason why people in developed countries like Sweden are not part of the digital economy. Factors such as age, disability, and uncertain migration status also increase the likelihood of being dependent on cash payments.
